Passion is the cry of the heart. It pushes us to achieve goals at any cost. It motivates us and supplies us with energy and resources we never know existed. It takes us from being good to great.
Passion can lose its force when our focus shifts. Passion won't last forever, but neither will your body. That is why putting your passion through a ten point inspection is important, just like a physical exam for your body.
Do you remember what happened to Michael Jordan, the legendary basketball player? In 1993, Michael Jordan announced his retirement from the NBA. This rocked the sports world! Jordan had just won three back to back championships. Why would the greatest basketball player quit the game in which he loved?
One reason was his passion went out of check. He allowed his passion to spill into a nasty addiction. He started gambling, and racking up large amounts of debt. He ending up losing over $900,000 to San Diego businessman Richard Equinas in golf betting.
Jordan tried to spark his passion by jumping into the minor leagues of baseball. He surrounded himself with people who played for the love of the game rather than the money and the fame. Spending time with his minor league teammates rebirthed Jordan's passion for basketball. He returned to the NBA and won three more championships.
