If there was a DVD of my
life, you would find that I spent many years being an inauthentic fake. I
wanted to make a lot of money and be the ultimate entrepreneur. However, I have
been abundantly blessed with family and friends who helped me replace my confused
life with clarity and truth. Today I live with the ability to be who I was
created to be. This freedom allows me to focus and experience fulfillment.
Ponder this: Is a train
restricted or set free by its train tracks? The moment a train gets
derailed it becomes stuck. But when a train is on its track it is free to go
wherever the track leads. This is the same with being your authentic
self. When we pretend to be someone we are not in a place we should not be, we
are stuck and off the track. Being your authentic self allows you to be free to
travel wherever your tracks lead.
You were not created to
conform. You were not created to compare. You were not created to compromise.
You were created to contribute to this world and make an incredible difference
with your life. You were created to just be you!
One of the key elements of authenticity is self-belief. Self-belief flows from empowerment. I am not talking about the "empowerment" an employer hands over in the form of responsibility. That is well intentioned, but it is an illusion. It's an illusion because it can be taken away. For example, Imagine I asked you to champion the development of employees by leading a Mastermind Group for the next ten weeks. After week six, I take the group over and send you back to your duties. That empowerment was just stripped from you. True empowerment is self-empowerment. You create it. You foster it. You fight for it. Why? Because it is yours.
I trust you will jump into
the process of discovering your authentic self with excitement and expectation.
You are a masterpiece still in the works. Each action is a brush stroke, so
choose well!
