This past week, we taught a three day course to a group of 21 people. I
asked the question, "Do you remember the past or the future better?' I
received some puzzled looks and a few unsure "The past?" I pose to
you the same question.
If you are not sure, let us reflect. Do you remember your third birthday
party? How about Christmas when you were seven? What about your
21st birthday party? At this point, I typically hear, "I remember the
beginning of the evening, but it goes black after that..." What about last
Tuesday? If you are like most people, there are few details you retain. It is
typically the momentous occasions we hold onto rich details.
Now, let's remember the future. What will you be doing tomorrow? What will
you be wearing? Who will you see? What conversations will you have? Or consider
this question: What will you be doing this Christmas? What will be served for
Christmas dinner? How does it smell? Taste? What presents will you open? What's
inside them? I bet you can answer these questions with great detail and
excitement.
God gave us an amazing blessing that is vision. We can see things in our
mind to great detail. At CLS we are not believers in The Secret or
anything like that. We do not think by remember the future, you can have anything
by simply dreaming it. However, we do believe you can do everything better
with positive thinking and future remembrance.
Use this powerful tool to catalyze action and increased results. Jonathan
Swift said, "Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others."
